Grape varieties and terroir

Château d'Yquem's traditional blend is made from 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. The vines thrive on gravelly, clayey-sandy hillsides with a limestone subsoil, benefiting from an ideal microclimate that promotes the precious noble rot (Botrytis cinerea).

Tasting

Color: Deep amber gold, with copper highlights.

Nose: Sumptuous aromatic palette combining candied fruits (apricot, mango), acacia honey, saffron, orange zest, with notes of beeswax, gingerbread and touches of salted butter caramel.

Palate: Velvety and dense attack, powerful liqueur but perfectly balanced by a very fine acidic structure. Endless finish, offering nuances of sweet spices and dried fruits.

Storage Potential

This vintage has exceptional longevity, being able to evolve for another 30-40 years in the cellar.

Food and Wine Pairings

Perfect for pan-fried foie gras, truffled poultry, blue cheeses (Roquefort), and exotic fruit or almond-based desserts. It also makes a wonderful meditation on its own.
