Grape varieties and terroir

The 2016 Carruades de Lafite is a classic Left Bank blend:

- 60 to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon: structure, depth and aging potential
- 25 to 30% Merlot: roundness and charm
- 5 to 10% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot: aromatic complexity and freshness

The vines rest on deep gravel soils, typical of Pauillac, promoting deep rooting and optimal ripeness of the berries.

Tasting

Color: Deep ruby red, with purple highlights, testifying to its youth and concentration.

Nose: Fine and expressive, with aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, cedar and blond tobacco, complemented by notes of graphite and a subtle floral touch (violet).

Palate: Smooth and precise attack, velvety texture, fine and perfectly integrated tannins. Beautiful depth in the mid-palate, with an elegant finish on notes of black fruits, sweet spices and pencil lead, signature of the Lafite terroir.

Storage Potential

Already pleasant after aeration for its balance and refinement, the Carruades de Lafite 2016 will improve over 15 to 20 years, developing tertiary aromas of leather, undergrowth and truffle.

- Roast rack of lamb in a herb crust
- Rossini beef or grilled beef fillet
- Duck breast with figs
