Grape varieties and terroir

This wine is made from Pinot Noir, Burgundy's king grape variety. Clos des Epenots, classified as Premier Cru, is planted on deep clay-limestone soils, giving the wine its robust structure and excellent aging potential. The ideal southeastern exposure promotes optimal ripeness.

Tasting

Color: Deep garnet red, with tiled highlights showing the beginnings of evolution.

Nose: Complex aromas of candied black cherry, prune, black truffle, evolving into notes of leather, undergrowth and sweet spices.

Palate: Imposing structure with silky tannins, perfect balance between power and freshness, long finish with notes of liquorice and damp earth.

Storage Potential

The 2008 vintage of Clos des Epenots is made for aging: it will continue to blossom magnificently for another 10 to 15 years.

Food and Wine Pairings

An ideal companion for game in sauce, roast meats, lamb chops or even mature cheeses such as Époisses or Langres.
