Grape varieties and terroir

Details of the blend and grape origin are being kept deliberately confidential, but it is most likely a base of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from selected plots on clay-limestone and gravelly terroirs in the Southwest, or even Bordeaux, favoring concentration and structure.

Tasting

Color: Deep garnet red with tiled highlights, a sign of beautiful development.

Nose: Complex aromas of stewed black fruits (prune, blackcurrant), blond tobacco, sweet spices and undergrowth, with touches of leather and cocoa.

Palate: Smooth and velvety attack, melted tannins, ample and delicious mouthfeel, beautiful residual freshness. Persistent, elegant and slightly spicy finish.

Storage Potential

25-30 years old

Food and Wine Pairings

This characterful wine is the ideal accompaniment to generous, rustic dishes: beef bourguignon, wild boar stew, homemade cassoulet or even mature hard cheeses such as Laguiole or old Cantal.

Description

Mysterious and confidential, L'Interdit de V….....D is an atypical cuvée produced in very small quantities and deliberately classified as Vin de Table to free itself from the constraints of appellation. The 2000 vintage offers a unique wine, with a free and audacious style, combining depth, character and aromatic complexity. A secret cuvée for enlightened connoisseurs, which cultivates the spirit of garage wines and artisanal productions.

Château Valandraud

Château Valandraud, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion since 2012, embodies the meteoric rise of a “garage wine” that has become an icon. Created by Jean-Luc Thunevin in 1991 on a micro-parcel, the estate has established itself through its boldness, precision, and the intense expression of its clay-limestone terroir. Blended around Merlot, Valandraud produces powerful, rich, and sensual wines, carried by a velvety texture and great aromatic complexity, a visionary success that has become a reference.
